Fulbright: General Information
The Fulbright Student Program has been in existence since 1946 and offers students the possibility of spending an academic year in a foreign country of choice. Each year approximately 1000 fellowships are granted for work in over 140 countries worldwide. Because the requirements vary from country to country, students should carefully check the stated requirements for their proposed host country. This information can be found either in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program or at the Fulbright website (http://www.iie.org/fulbright).
Anyone considering applying for a fellowship should have a strong academic record. Teaching fellowships are available to some countries, but in most cases, an applicant will need to have an academic project to be carried out at a university in the host country.
Students who are currently seniors or have already graduated will be applying through Carleton's Office of Student Fellowships.
