Fulbright: Timetable

Spring term of junior year

Early in the term there will be an open meeting to describe the Fulbright program to all students who may be interested in applying. At this meeting intent-to-apply forms will be distributed, but they can also be picked up at a later date in LDC 340. The completed form is due by May 24 in LDC 340. Before the end of the academic year, there will be a meeting with those students who have submitted an intent-to-apply form.

Summer

The application should be completed and contact should be made with a person in the host country who agrees to support your project. A letter from this person needs to be included in the application.

Fall term of senior year

Completed applications are due by 5 p.m. on the first day of classes. Shortly thereafter the Student Fellowships Committee will schedule an interview with each applicant. The committee may suggest changes, and if so, students will have approximately ten days in which to complete these changes. All applications will be due by early October and will be forwarded later in the month to the Institute of International Education in New York.

Winter term

The applications will be reviewed in New York, and those students not selected for further consideration will be notified before the end of the term. The applications of the other students will be forwarded to the host countries for further review. The final notification of the host country’s decision is usually given by the end of April, but students who are alternates may have to wait until the summer for a decision.
