Lingnan University ZeShan English Tutor Scheme
Recruitment of ZeShan English Tutor (Up to Two Positions)
The University is inviting applications for the post of ZeShan English Tutor. The post is funded by ZeShan (H.K.) Foundation to enhance Lingnan students’ English language abilities. The ZeShan English Tutors will be recent graduates from Lingnan’s overseas partner institutions whose native language is English. The ZeShan English Tutors will be required to live on campus and will be responsible for leading and providing a variety of language enhancement initiatives for our students. Major duties for the ZeShan English Tutors are as follows:
(a) organizing immersion activities and leading study interest groups, such as English Camp, English Corner, field trips, speech contests and other English enhancement program; and
(b) giving advice to various English-speaking clubs and activities such as the Toastmasters Club and English Debate Team; and
(c) providing advice to individual students to enhance their language skills in daily English conversations, presentation and public speaking skills.
Terms of appointment:
· The appointment is tenable for 9 months from August 16, 2007 to May 15, 2008.
· The monthly salary is fixed at HK$12,000 per month and tutors are provided with accommodation on campus.
· Medical and dental coverage are provided by Lingnan University.
· There will be 13.5 days of annual leave for the 9-month appointment period.
Applications are invited from graduates, or final year students (who are due to graduate in the summer 2010) of the partner institutions participating in Lingnan’s Student International Exchange Programme. We are looking for two dynamic young staff who have an outgoing personality, enjoy organizing extra-curricular activities and like to experience life and culture in Hong Kong. Interested parties should complete an application form and forward it to Luyen Phan, together with a copy of their official transcript and two sealed letters of reference.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to attend an interview in person or by means of video conferencing or telephone in April 2007. Assistance will be given to successful applicants in obtaining a valid Hong Kong entry visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department. This appointment will not be provided with any passage and baggage allowances.
