Carleton made me what I am today.

"I give to Carleton because in tracing my life successes all the dotted lines lead directly or indirectly back to the four years I spent on campus," says Hal Higdon '53.

A senior writer for Runners World, Hal has inspired many at Carleton and around the world to be more conscious of their health. His work has also raised a generous amount of money for the College. In celebration of his 70th birthday, Hal set a personal goal of running 7 marathons in 7 months as a fund-raiser for seven organizations, including Carleton. Hal ran Grandma's Marathon in Duluth and dedicated it to Carleton, and through his efforts raised nearly $25,000 for the College.

"Carleton made me what I am today," says Higdon.
