Career Center
Charge
- The major focus of the next stage of the Career Center Task Force's work will be to consider models and suggest a structure for involving faculty from all academic departments in the life planning of their students. The Task Force will also consider the Career Center's role in encouraging and advising students who are applying for fellowships. This phase of Task Force discussions will also include recommendations regarding the Career Center facility, name and reporting lines.

- The Task Force will continue to meet through Winter Term 2009.
Process
- The Task Force will provide a written report that incorporates the group's work from 2007-08, together will the recommendations from their current work, to the President by March 15, 2009.
Child Care
Charge
- The Child Care Task Force (CCTF) will assess the options and capacities for local child care for faculty and staff, including daily care, Northfield school breaks and other episodic care needs, and other discrete child care needs, such as those using the Recreation Center. Following such an assessment, the CCTF will recommend choices for the College to consider, with an emphasis upon community partnerships. The CCTF recommendations should includ budgetary impacts and should focus on financiall sustainable models. The Child Care Task Force will consult with the FAC, JFAC, and other faculty and staff committees.

Timeline
- The Child Care Task Force will meet during the Fall and Winter Terms of 2008-09.
Process
- The Child Care Task Force will make its recommendations to the Benefits Committee by March 15, 2009.
First Year Student Experience
Charge - The focus of the First Year Student Experience Task Force is to:
- meet with the New Student Week 2008 planning group during the spring term (of 2008);
- review community proposals for ideas that could be incorporated into New Student Week 2009 and/or a program throughout the year (the proposals will be collected by the New Student Week 2008 planning group);
- observe New Student Week 2008;
- asses the advising and orientation needs of first year students and propose a program that addresses these needs throughout the first year, including academic orientation, advising, and social and residential orientation;
- make recommendations about all aspects of New Student Week, including arrival dates, advising prior to classes, testing, registration, the Common Reading exercise format, academic and resident life orientation components.

Timeline
- The task force will begin meeting Spring Term 2008 and continue through the fall.
Process
- The new first year student experience integrated program proposal should be finalized by December 1, 2008. The recommendations will be presented to the CSA, the Division of Student Life, the ECC, the Faculty, and then College Council.
