About the IdeaLab
The IdeaLab Mission
The IdeaLab is an exciting new facility for creative collaboration at Carleton College, opening in the new Weitz Center for Creativity in the Fall of 2011. Staffed with experts, decked out with equipment and media, it's the number one place at Carleton to explore, work, create, learn and have fun.
Inspired by curricular initiatives across campus, academic support professionals from across campus have worked together to design these spaces so that they are conducive to work and consultations that relate to: locating resources, designing visual displays such as posters, practicing presentations, creating visual displays of data and information graphics, practicing working in active learning spaces, experimenting with videography and podcasting, and much, much more.
What is the IdeaLab?
The IdeaLab is a suite of facilities located in the lower level of the Weitz Center for Creativty. The suite is named for the IdeaLab itself, a 15 seat interactive media and creation computer lab. In addition to the IdeaLab itself, there is a Photo/Video Studio for the use of the entire campus. There's an 8 seat general purpose computer lab, and a very high-end Video Finishing Room, for working on collaborative video projects. Finally, PEPS has moved to the IdeaLab at the Weitz Center. PEPS will still offer every service we have in the past, and a few new ones!
