What support, knowledge and skills do students need to create academic content in their fields of study? The answer to that question is far different in 2008 than it was even a few years ago. Today’s student may need to create an effective video; develop an engaging web site; understand intellectual property rights; master the technology of podcasting; develop an instructional game; or create a multimedia presentation that merges text, visuals, and audio into a compelling narrative.

Joan Lippincott, Associate Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), will talk about this shifting framework for promoting the value of information and technology skills for students. Joan is responsible for programs focusing on the use of networked information to transform institutions, including New Learning Communities, Working Together, and Assessing the Academic Networked Environment.
