How do I restrict the number of times a student can play the recording?
While there doesn't seem to be an option that will let you restrict the number of times a student can play a recording, you do have certain options that can restrict student control. Here is an excerpt from the CAN8 Discussion Board:
In general, you can achieve students control restrictions by using the TIMEOUT function from the RECORDER (EDIT--->TIMEOUT) cumulated with the BACK function accessible from the PLANNER (OPTIONS --->ITEM SELECTION-->un-check BACK option).
TIME 00:00
RECORD TIME LIMIT (estimate the time required for the answer. Can be announced to the students in the I item recording. i.e: you'll have 30 seconds to answer each questions)
TIME (approximate the time required to read them then fill in the time fields)
RECORD TIME LIMIT (Enter a time limit for the student to answer)
SOUND PLAY TIME (will switch to recording mode as soon as the example is finished)
RECORD TIME LIMIT (Enter a time limit for the student to answer)
SOUND PLAY TIME
RECORD TIME LIMIT (Enter a time limit for the student to answer)
Those are only a few examples. Play around with the TIMEOUT settings to find out which ones work best for your lesson plan.
