Use a web browser (keep reading for browser requirements) to open the ELFE Home page: http://www.carleton.edu/curricular/fren/elfe/.

How to configure Firefox for ELFE
Another Technical Note (new on 9/23/04): It's best if you close your browser entirely and then relaunch it before doing your ELFE exercises. Some browsers cache usernames and passwords, even if you tell them not to, and then try to use them for your ELFE login. Presuming that you are not using the same username and passwords for other sites (which you should NOT be doing), this causes you to get an error when attempting to save your exercises.
Saving your ELFE Results
Once you finish the exercise, you will be asked to login (using your Carleton username and password) to send your results to the database. Once you login you should see a window telling you that your results have been saved. Below are some important things to remember about using this system:
- You must be fully registered in the course to send results.
- The results will only be sent once all items have been correctly answered.
- If you repeat an exercise, the new results will be recorded in addition to your previous results, none are eliminated from the database.
- Turn off any feature of your browser that remembers passwords, this sometimes causes confusion because the browser will send the wrong password
- While you may have limited success with Internet Explorer, it is highly unpredictable with EFLE Online. Save yourself some time and use another browser, they can all be downloaded for free

What to do if you have problems If you have trouble with ELFE Online, please contact Carly Born, Academic Computing Coordinator in ITS. She can be reached at x7010 or by email at cborn@carleton.edu. When you call or email, please provide the following information:
If you fail to provide this information, it will be much more difficult to address the problem you are having. |
Again, use your browser to go to the results pages: http://apps.carleton.edu/its/hotpotatoes/netid_only/index.epl
You will need to use your Carleton username and password to login and then will be given the option of seeing results by exercise, by course or by student.
What results do you see?

Start Time – The exact time the student started the exercise
End Time – The exact time the student completed the exercise and submitted results
Realname – The students Carleton username
Hpid – a unique identifier for each time a student completes the exercise
Subject – The Title of the exercise
Course – The course this student is enrolled in
Exercise – The title of the exercise
