The Experimental Theater Board (ETB), a student-run theater group at Carleton College, will present a series of student-written one-act plays on May 1, 2 and 3 in the Little Nourse Theater. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the performances, which are free and open to the public, begin nightly at 8 p.m.

Three separate original pieces will be performed. The first, written and directed by Peter Varnum ’08 (Lake Quivira, Kan.) and starring Chris Dole ’09 (Boulder, Colo.), Lizzie Cross ’11 (Winnetka, Ill.), and Emily Schickli ’11 (Palo Alto, Calif.), is titled “Terson and Andrea.” This musical comedy stars a pair of dating college seniors rehashing their romantic history. Second will be “Emmet, Justice and the American Way,” directed by Eric Handler ’10 (Wayne, Pa.) and starring Scott Donaldson ’10 (Wauwatosa, Wis.), Jared Christensen ’10 (Lake Oswego, Ore.), Lisa Otto ’10 (Kensington, Md.), Joe Knoedler ’09 (Sheboygan, Wis.), Conrad Dean ’11 (River Falls, Wis.), Grace Russell ’11 (Keller, Texas), and Nathan Riemer ’10 (White Plains, N.Y.), who also wrote the play. “Emmet” chronicles the adventures of two friends who spend a Saturday morning fantasizing about the good they could accomplish with the benefit of super-human powers. Finally, the night will finish off with “Classifieds,” written by Morgan Holmes ’11 (San Antonio, Texas), directed by Emily Edmond ’11 (Bethesda, Md.), and starring Garrett Miller ’11 (Los Altos, Calif.) and Patty Dana ’11 (St. Paul, Minn.), along with Otto and Schickli. “Classifieds” examines a couple in the midst of changing houses who are forced to confront a tragic past.

Carleton’s ETB is a theatrical organization run entirely by students, who are involved in every step of production, from directing to acting to technical support. For more information, reservations and disability accommodations, call (507) 222-4439.
