Carleton Student Group Sponsoring Soccer Equipment, School Supply Drive to Benefit Ugandan Groups

March 8, 2013

Northfield, Minn.––Goals With Soul, a Carleton College student-led organization, will be holding a soccer equipment drive and raffle auction on March 12-14 to benefit two non-profit Uganda-based organizations, S.O.U.L. Uganda and Soccer Without Borders.

Both of the Ugandan organizations help children by teaching them life lessons through soccer, and providing them with support and encouragement academically.

Donations can be dropped of at Carleton’s Sayles-Hill Campus Center from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. Tabled will be located in the Great Space, between the Sayles-Hill Café and the Carleton Bookstore entrance.

The student group, which organized a three-on-three soccer tournament fundraiser last spring, will be collecting new and old coaching equipment (pennies, cones, balls, etc.), soccer equipment (shin guards, cleats, indoor shoes, socks, jerseys, etc.) and school supplies (pencils, notebooks, rulers, erasers, etc.). Each person who donates an item will receive a raffle ticket for each item donated. Raffle prizes include a U.S. National Team jersey, a gift card to a downtown cafe, a mini-soccer ball, and others.  At the end of the drive on Thursday, the group will choose the raffle winners.
