Youssouf Sogodogo (b. 1955)
Youssouf Sogodogo, educated at Mali's National Institute of Arts, began his career in museum administration. From 1982 to 1985 he served as director of the Sahel Museum in Gao, where he took up photography, and then was textile conservator at the National Museum in Bamako. He moved to the photography school Helvetas-Mali (Association suisse pour la coopération internationale) in 2002 and has served as director since 2005, when the school--now called CFP (Cadre de promotion pour la formation en photographie)--came under Malian control. He has exhibited in five Bamako Biennales (1996, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2009) and elsewhere in Africa and Europe.
Formé à l’Institut National des Arts, Youssouf Sogodogo a entamé sa carrière dans l’administration de musée. De 1982 à 1985, il a servi comme directeur du Musée du Sahel à Gao, où il s’est initié à la photographie et est devenu ensuite conservateur des Textiles au Musée National à Bamako. Il a transféré à l’école de photo Helvetas-Mali (Association suisse pour la coopération internationale) en 2002 et sert comme directeur depuis 2005, lorsque l’école, appelée maintenant CFP (Cadre de promotion pour la Formation en Photographie) est passée sous contrôle malien. Il a exposé lors de cinq biennales de Bamako (1996, 1999, 2001, 2005 et 2009) et ailleurs en Afrique et en Europe.
