The photography exhibition “Peace and Friendship: Stories and Photographs from Minnesota Peace Corps Volunteers” will be on display in the Carleton College Gould Library beginning Monday, March 5.

Organized by Minnesota Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, this exhibition features 20 photographs taken by Peace Corps volunteers with Minnesota connections. The photographs and accompanying stories feature some of the people Peace Corps volunteers met during their service.

“Carleton has strong ties to the Peace Corps,” says Sarah Mawhorter, educational associate at Gould Library. “This show brings both visually arresting photographs and interesting stories into the library.”

Carleton College is now tied for second place among small colleges producing the most Peace Corps volunteers. Last year 29 Carleton College alumni joined the Peace Corps, moving the College from number 20 on the list to tie with the University of Chicago for second place.

The traveling exhibition runs from March 5 through April 13. Gould Library is open daily, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to midnight. Library hours are reduced when Carleton is not in session.
