    Carleton College Welcomes Class of 2014; 518 Students Hail From 45 States and 23 Countries

    On Tuesday, September 7, Carleton College welcomes the Class of 2014 to campus. There are 518 students in the class, selected from a pool of 4,885 applicants. The students represent 45 states and 23 countries, with 100 students coming from Minnesota, followed by Illinois (51), California (49), New York (32), Wisconsin (19), Texas and Washington (16 each).

    Carleton College Announces Completion of $300 Million Fundraising Campaign

    Carleton College has announced the successful completion of its largest-ever fundraising campaign. Breaking Barriers, Creating Connections: The Campaign for Carleton has exceeded its goal, raising more than $300 million from alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations. One-third of all campaign dollars were given by members of the Carleton Board of Trustees and 76 percent of all alumni contributed to the campaign. As of today, the College has received a total of $300,383,642 in gifts and pledges from 23,148 donors toward three strategic initiatives: enriching the teaching and learning environment by creating better ways for students to learn broadly and deeply; broadening access for students from increasingly diverse backgrounds; and enhancing the College’s physical facilities in ways that effectively support a leading liberal arts college in the 21st century.

    "Disconnected" Featured on Halogen Television Network

    "Disconnected," the critically-acclaimed award-winning 2008 documentary made by Carleton College cinema and media students students, will be broadcast on the Halogen cable television network on Friday, July 30; Tuesday, August 10; and Wednesday, August 25 at 4 p.m. (ET). The one-hour documentary follows Carleton alumni Andrew Tatge '09, Caitlin Magnusson '09, and Mitchell Lundin '08 as they take on the challenge of giving up their computers to see how their academic, social, and work lives are affected.

    Carleton College Announces Faculty Appointment to Endowed Chair Position

    The Carleton College Board of Trustees recently approved the appointment of Louis Newman, the John M. and Elizabeth W. Musser Professor of Religious Studies, as the Humphrey Doermann Professor of Liberal Learning. The Humphrey Doermann Professorship is for a three-year term responsible for directing Carleton’s Perlman Center for Learning and Teaching.
