New Environmental Studies Major Featured in Star Tribune

September 25, 2009

The Sept. 26 edition of the Star Tribune featured Carleton’s new environmental studies major. Kelsea Dombrovski ’11 (Kimball, Minn.) is quoted in the story. "With environmental studies, I could make connections to the real world," the junior said. "It's about real issues that people are actually dealing with." The story references Carleton’s academic fair and the high interest shown by students in the new major. "They just come in interested, then find their way to us," said Mark Kanazawa, Ada M. Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor of the Social Sciencesand Director of Environmental Studies. "Global warming and climate change have gotten a lot of attention in recent years. These issues are big, they're scary, and they make a young, conscientious person want to do something about them.”
