Christian Science Monitor Highlights Carleton Career Center Programs

October 9, 2009

The Christian Science Monitor has an Oct. 9 feature story entitled "Universities try innovative ways to get grads jobs," and the piece prominently features the work programming of the Carleton career center. The story details Carleton's scholars program, as well as its externship model, which combines a short, intense work experience with a home-stay element with a Carleton graduate or parent. “We were career specialists so we wanted to know all the work place stuff. They wanted to move all the conversations to the home stay stuff,” Carleton's career center director Richard Berman said. “It got to a level of mentoring that I hadn’t seen in years and years of internships and my epiphany at that point was, ‘Wait, maybe we’ve got this all wrong.’ ”
