Students Celebrate Russian New Year
Several students last Saturday gathered to celebrate the Russian New Year, one of the country’s most popular holidays. The event drew Russian students as well as friends and others to a fun night of contests, games, food, and gifts.

ABC Party Sparks Creativity
“One person’s trash is another’s three piece suit,” said one dapper attendee at the Anything But Clothes (ABC) party held last Saturday in Great Space. Sponsored by the newly formed Party Crew, students arrived in costumes made of floppy disks, book covers, pizza boxes and generous amounts of duct tape.

Students Give Back to Carleton in Annual Phonathon
From Sunday, Jan. 9 through Thursday, Jan. 13, hundreds of Carleton students participated in the school's annual Volunteer for Carleton fundraiser. Lured by a hope of giving back to their school and a promise of free food, a record number of students raised thousands of dollars through their efforts.

Geology Class Uses Alumni Help
Every fall for the past 10 years the students in geology professor Bereket Haileab's Introduction to Geology class have conducted test on water quality in Rice County to learn about the relationship between people and their environment. This fall Haileab altered the process in order to encourage his students to question how people impact their natural surroundings not just in Minnesota but across the country.

President Oden Makes Appearance as Indiana Jones at Halloween Concert
Crowds of elaborately dressed-up students packed Skinner Memorial Chapel this Sunday as the Carleton College Orchestra, dressed in full Halloween attire, opened the annual midnight Halloween concert with a rendition of “YMCA.”
