Students Showcase Dance Skills at Ebony II Performances

February 11, 2004

Once a term the stars come out for Ebony II, a dance show written and directed exclusively by students. Practicing for hours after classes, Carls spend the first five weeks of winter term polishing moves and making costumes for the always well-attended event.

This year featured 10 dances performed to packed audiences in Arena Theater, including dances choreographed to "Macho Man" by the Village People and "Outlaw" by the Neptunes. "I Wish" by Skee-lo provided the music for the cast dance which featured every Ebony dancer, numbering more than 70.

Dean of Students Mark Govoni was seen at the event as well. But instead of taking in the performance as an observer, he donned a blonde wig and pink pants as the lead in a dance to the Austin Powers theme song. Cheering Carls were obviously impressed with his energy and technical prowess.

Ebony II returns again in the spring. All Carls are invited to participate, rhythm not required.
