Vaudeville Show at The Grand Caps Off Northfield’s Vintage Band Festival

The North Star Cinema Orchestra will present a 1913-style Vaudeville show at the Grand Theater on Sunday, August 4 at 7 p.m.  The show re-creates an authentic Vaudeville show complete with songs and authentic jokes of the period, illustrated song slides, silent short films, and even a dog act.

Directed by Ron Rodman, the Dye Family Professor of Music and Director of the Carleton College Symphony, the North Star Cinema Orchestra is an ensemble of music faculty from Carleton College. Singers for the show will be Mary Martz and Ben Allen. Lynn Deichert will play trumpet and also tap dance in the show. Ernie Martz will serve as the Interlocutor. Other members of the group include Steve Kelly (Dye Family Professor of Music, Emeritus), Liz Ericksen (violin and viola), Martha Jamsa (flute), Matthew McCright (piano), Connie Martin (bass), Liz Evison, and Jay Johnson (percussion).
