Carleton College Alumnus Barrie Osborne, Producer of 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy, Hosts Pre-Release Screening Fundraiser

Barrie Osborne, executive producer of the Oscar-winning film "The Matrix" and a 1966 graduate of Carleton College, will host a pre-release screening of his film "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the State Theatre in Minneapolis.

This screening is a fundraiser for Carleton and is one of the first times that the film will be shown in the United States; it will open in wide release on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The film, produced by New Line Cinema, is adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s book by the same title.The fundraising event was organized by Osborne and his Carleton classmates.

Tickets are available to the public at two levels: $50, which includes the screening of the film and a social hour at Backstage at Bravo, and $200, which includes a reception with Osborne at The Palomino, the screening, and the social hour at Backstage at Bravo.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Carleton College Office of Alumni Affairs at 800-729-2586.In addition to "The Matrix," Osborne’s production credits include John Woo’s "Face/Off" and "China Moon." He has served as executive producer on "The Fan," "Dick Tracy," "Child’s Play," "Wilder Napalm" and "Rapa Nui."
