May 13, 2010

A story written by Rae Wood, a sophomore from Shorewood, Minn., was selected as one of six finalists in the 2010 Nick Adams Short Story Contest. Wood's submission, "where the road does not lead you," was one of 43 entries in the contest, which has been held annually since 1973 by the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), a consortium of 14 private liberal arts colleges including Beloit College, Carleton College, Coe College, The Colorado College, Cornell College, Grinnell College, Knox College, Lake Forest College, Lawrence University, Luther College, Macalester College, Monmouth College, Ripon College, and St. Olaf College. The Nick Adams Contest carries with it a first prize of $1,000, made possible through a generous gift from an anonymous donor. This year the award was given to St. Olaf College junior Andrew Watt.
