Balaam Gives A Talk At The “Return Of The Text” Conference

Peter Balaam, Associate Professor of English, gave a talk at the “Return of the Text,” an interdisciplinary conference investigating the cultural value (after all) of “close reading,” Syracuse, New York, on September 28. The talk was called “Terminus, God of Limits: Rethinking Emerson’s Religion.” He also has an article in the volume Critical Insights: Herman Melville (Salem Press, 2012) called “Melville’s Anatomy of American Belief: The Confidence-Man: His Masquerade.”
