John Thabiti Willis, Assistant Professor of History, had a chapter, “A Visible Silence: Africans in the History of Pearl Diving in Dubai, UAE,” published last month by Ashgate in a book titled, Museums in Arabia: Transnational Practices and Regional Processes. The chapter brings together debates in African Diaspora Studies and in Museum Studies through an analysis of images of Black pearl divers in museums and other heritage sites in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
