Carls Abroad: Ava Lewis ’17
Ava Lewis ’17 shares her favorite moments from the Round River Patagonia, Chile study abroad program
The Round River program to Patagonia, Chile allows students an opportunity to experience the vast and diverse landscape of Patagonia through active field research and hiking.
“I don’t think I will ever forget feeling so hopelessly wet for such an extended period of time. It never stopped raining during the two weeks we backpacked through Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, and my tent leaked so that periodically the garbage bags we used to line the tent would slip and dump a night’s worth of rain on our heads. But there’s still no question in my mind; none of us would have traded the remoteness of the Southern Patagonian ice sheet, the spectacular mountains, or all the mate we drank for a dry night’s sleep. Thank you for all the adventures.” -Ava Lewis ’17
