As the temperature climbed into the 40’s, Carleton’s finest ice sculptors savored the shade of Willis Hall to bring their frozen masterpieces to life. Part of Winter Carnival 2005, the Annual Ice Sculpting Contest drew almost 30 contestants, ready to carve four foot tall sections of lake ice.

This year’s creations included an Easter Island head, the Super Bowl Trophy, the “running man” and opposing penguin and cactus figurines. Unfortunately, the warm weather took its toll on the art and Carls had little time to view the sculptures before they melted into more abstract forms.
