We have been rather lax about updating the change log but are going to start actively using it once again. Needless to say, there have been many, many changes in Reason since the last update. Reason 4 Beta 5 is complete and should be available for download shortly.

Some notables to share:

  • A Reason nightly build is now available (download nightly build)
  • Read-access to subversion available upon request
  • Many dependencies have been removed:
    • Reason uses HTML Purifier instead of HTML Safe (better XSS protection and PHP 5 compatibility)
    • Reason uses Adam Flynn's XML Parser instead of PEAR libraries (PHP 4 and PHP 5 flavors)
    • Curl can be used when compiled with PHP or on the command line
    • All PEAR dependencies have been removed
  • Reason includes a powerful publications module
  • A table editor with view/edit/delete/export capability has been added to carl_util
  • Entity Selector enhancements:
    • Ability to limit results to certain tables
    • Ability to limit results to certain fields
    • Ability to enable multivalue results
    • Addition of relationship fields that exist or not
  • The allowable relationship manager is now an administrative module using the table editor
  • Additional themes are included
  • Gallery2 released - The image gallery has been completely reworked
  • Simpler install, improved setup script
  • Performance improvements
  • Security enhancements
  • Reason ObjectCache system introduced
  • FLV Player has been upgraded
  • Moved many non-Reason specific functionality into carl_util
  • Major upgrades to Loki 2
  • Addition of RSS feed module
  • Thor forms have lightweight spam-bot prevention built in
  • Better handling of head item inclusion
  • ...and much more
