How to create a new Blog / Publication
Note: In order to create a publication, your site must have the necessary access. If you do not see the words "Blog/Publication" in the list of available item types when you visit the site management page, a Reason administrator will need to give your site the appropriate tools. (Administrators: To set a site up to have publications, simply add the type "Blog/Publication" to the site – see how to add types to a minisite for instructions.)
- Log in to Reason, using your Net ID and password, and go to the site you want to edit.
- Create a new blog/publication item.
- Click the “Blog / Publication” link (under the Add/Edit heading in the left sidebar). This will take you to the type management page for publications.
- Click “Add Blog / Publication”.
- Set up your new Blog / Publication by filling out the form.
- Click the button labeled “Save and Continue Editing.”
- If you chose to allow commenting or front-end posting on the publication, you will need to specify who can comment and/or post. To do this:
- Click "Who is allowed to Comment?" and/or "Who is allowed to post?"
- Create a new group or choose an existing group (How to set up a group). If you create a new group, it will automatically be set when you finish.
- Click the button or link labeled “Finish.”
- Place the blog/publication on a page.
- Decide where on your site you want the publication to appear. Should it be on the home page? On an already existing subpage? Or perhaps on a new page?
- Edit the page where you want the publication to go (if it does not yet exist, create a new page in the location you want.)
- Change the page type field to "Blog/Publication" and click "Save and continue editing"
- Choose the link labeled "Place a blog/publication on this page" in the left sidebar
- Select the new publication from the list presented.
- Click the link labeled "Finish".
You should be done — you can now start posting to the blog/publication.
