Navigating Around Reason: The Site Admin Page

Once you have selected a site to work on you will see a page that looks something like this:

The view of Reason when you have selected a site

In the header

  • Site Dropdown Menu
This box lives in the top left corner of your screen and allows you to switch to managing a different minisite.
  • "Go to Public Site" Link
This link will take you out of the admin area for this minisite and to the home page for the minisite (i.e., what people using your site will actually see).
  • User Menu (Reason adminstrators only)
This box lives in the top right corner of your screen and allows people with administrative privileges to see exactly what another user sees.

In the left sidebar

  • Add/Edit Items Menu
This menu lists the types available for you to work with in this minisite. Clicking on a link will take you to an individual type admin area where you can add or edit items of this type. (For example, if you click on "Images" you will see the list of images managed by the current site and be able to add a new image to Reason.)
  • Borrowed Items Menu
This menu shows you the types of items available for you to borrow from another minisite.
  • Other optional site tools:
    • Themes: browse available themes and change the site's theme. Administrators may remove this link if it is important that the site keep its current theme.
    • Statistics: view information about site traffic and visits. This link will only be visible if the Reason administrator has set up a connection with a stats package.
    • Users: view the list of users who have access to manage this site

Recent Activity

The central portion of the page contains links to recently edited items, grouped by type, for easy access to things you’ve been working on. Reason shows the three most recently edited items of each type.
