Reason has a very minimal requirements list, making it easy to install and maintain.
The following are required for installation:
- Apache HTTPD with mod_rewrite enabled - Works with the 1.3, 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4 branches.
- PHP 5.1-5.5 with
- libtidy OR Tidy at the command line
- MySQL - Works with 5 and probably 4.1+
- ImageMagick (preferred) OR GDlib
A note on server operating systems
Reason is easiest to install and maintain on Linux and Mac OS X.
It is possible to run Reason on a Windows server, but it is significantly more difficult to install, and as most of the community runs Reason on Linux or Mac OS X, you will likely be on your own for Windows-specific troubleshooting.
If you'd like to see a server built for Reason, download the Reason virtual machine -- it contains a fully configured instance of Ubuntu that you can check out.
