A few updates from the world of Reason CMS - about our upcoming conference, the move to a fixed release schedule, and losing the "beta" label.
First conference
The first (and hopefully annual) Reason conference will be held in Decorah, IA on the Luther College campus July 7 and 8, 2011. A conference website with transportation, lodging, and session details will be launching shortly.
Fixed release schedule
Official Reason CMS releases have never been on a strict time schedule, and have typically been feature based. This has meant that sometimes a certain release takes quite a bit longer than the next release. This model makes it difficult to plan for upgrades, and makes it harder to focus development and bugfixes around a particular release date.
As a result, we are moving to a twice annual release schedule, and will push out a point release of Reason CMS each July and January.
Leaving beta
Calling Reason "beta" software has been a misnomer for some time. The various Reason "beta" point releases have each introduced significant new features. The fact is that Reason CMS is quite stable - calling point releases "beta" does not make any sense.
On July 7, 2011 we will release Reason 4 final. Yay!
