Admissions and Financial Aid Committee

Contact: Senator/Admissions and Financial Aid Committee Liaison Jonathan Hillis

2009-2010

  • AFAC is working on an evaluation report of the Posse Program. Posse is a program that Carleton has contracted for 9 years, which helps Carleton selecting average 10 minority students per year from urban Chicago area. AFAC had several meetings with the current Posse coordinator and all Posse student advisors at Carleton on assessing the value of the program, the selection process of the program, and the pre-Carleton training/orientation. AFAC is going to contact graduated Posse students for further review.

2008-2009

  • We are exploring a proposal which would allow students most difficult to yield to have more access to faculty in an academic area of interest.  The goal of this proposal is to increase the yield for these groups by helping them see a future for themselves at Carleton.

2007-2008

  • We are actively working in conjunction with AFAC to address questions of need-blind admissions, student loans, and retention rates.
