  • Update 11/02/08: The first meeting of the Campus Design Committee (the CDC) was on October 28th at 3:30 in Hill Lounge. We were informed that there was a assessment of campus facilities and a campus inventory that was underway and would be completed by February. The question was posed as to whether or not the Carleton needed a new campus master plan. Guests from Oslund and Associates (a landscaping and master planning firm from Minneapolis) were present to present a parking study that had been done on campus along with a proposed new parking scheme. They seek to move more parking on to campus, slow down traffic moving through campus and add more bike parking. Some of their ideas included a 2 storey parking lot (around 200 spaces), and restructuring the driveway from Scoville to Sayles into a "campus drive experience". According to Oslund and Assoc, the plan can be viewed at carletonneighbors.com (However, it does not seem to work; we'll follow this up). The next meeting of the CDC is yet to be determined.
  • The College has decided not to move ahead with asking the Board at its October meeting to approve the development of construction documents.  Practically, this means that the completion of Phase I in the Fall of 2011 will be unlikely.
