Available Funds

The following funds are administered by Budget Committee and Senate

  • Special Allocations Fund: This fund is to meet the needs of CSA Chartered Organizations and to fund new and original ideas.
  • Diversity Initiative Fund (DIF): DIF provides CSA Chartered Organizations and members of the CSA funding foir events that further the awareness and discussion of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, socioeconomic status, sexuality and sexual orientation, religion, and spirituality. Events funded must be open to the entire campus, cannot fund catering costs or conferences, and cannot exceed $1500. No CSA Chartered Organization or member of the CSA can request funding more than once per academic year.
  • Social Life Opportunity Fund (SLOF): The SLOF fund offers funding to unfunded or unchartered groups or individuals that wish to sponsor all-campus social events. SLOF monies are allocated through the same process as Special Allocations. To access this fund, use the Budget Committee Request Form online.
  • Honoraria Fund: The honoraria fund was established to allow groups to submit funding requests for speakers whose availability was unconfirmed during Spring Allocations. During Spring Allocations, the Budget Committee generally does not fund speakers
  • Capital Reserves: This fund is designed to provide a source of funding for one- time or emergency expenditures that are essential to the operation and continuation of a CSA Charted Organization with Funding and for large-scale projects or purchases.

The following funds are administered by the CSA Treasurer

  • Alternative Beverage Fund (Alt-Bev): Alt-bev is used for students to purchase alternative beverages and food for parties. In order to access this fund, students will need to submit a request to the Treasurer prior to the purchase of the items. After the purchase they must also submit a receipt to the Treasurer of the CSA. The Treasurer will normally fund $20 per event. Special consideration will be given for events where a higher amount is justified. Chartered groups can also receive up to $100 for food and beverages to be used at all-campus events from this fund.
  • Third Center Funds: This fund can be used to sponsor events which bring together students, faculty, staff and alumni. Generally, requests will not be funded for more than $10-12 per person. The Treasurer observes that given this constraint it is usually more economical for Third Center events to occur in Northfield, rather than the Cities.

This fund is administered by Campus Activities.

  • Metro Arts Access Fund: The Metro-Arts Access fund can be used by students to attend events in the Twin Cities.
