Welcome to my home page. I am an Assistant Professor in the philosophy department at Carleton College. My research is in ethics, with a focus on issues in normative ethics and biomedical ethics. I also have a (dormant) interest in aesthetics, particularly in the philosophy of music. I received my PhD from The University of Chicago in 2009. This fall I am teaching a course called "Life and Death" about the meaning of life. I will be teaching it again in the winter, alongside a senior seminar called "Moral/Immoral, Natural/Unnatural". In the spring, I'll be teaching an intro to ethics class as well as a course on modern philosophy (Descartes, Hume, & Kant).

My office hours for this quarter are Wednesdays, 1.30 - 3.30. Feel free to stop by!
