    Raka Mitra Seated
 Raka M. Mitra joined the Carleton Biology department in 2008

 She received her S.B. in Biology from M.I.T. (1996) and her Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University (2003).  She did postdoctoral work at the University of Minnesota in the Plant Biology department.  

 Raka is a molecular and cellular biologist interested in the interactions between plants and microbes. Her lab studies bacterial pathogens of plant roots with the goal of understanding disease development and plant defense.
