Red Cloud School
Hill began teaching Lakota last fall to high school students at Red Cloud School in Pine Ridge. Each Day, his students pass beneath a portrait of the school's namesake: Red Cloud, a Lakota chief who was among the U.S. Army's most respected opponents during the Indian Wars of the 19th century. In the evening, Hill often participates in school activities, such as sweat lodges and watching ball games against Red Cloud's rival, Pine Ridge High School.
