Special Events

Most of the fun at Reunion is included in your package, but a few special events require additional registration

Carleton Open

Play a round of golf with classmates and other alumni at the beautiful Northfield Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.  The tournament uses a team scramble format with flights for men, women, and couples. Teams will be organized with player participation and handicapped using the “Thurnblad System.” Register on your Reunion 2013 Registration or if you are just coming for the Carleton Open, register here.  Contact Catie Gardner ’10 at 800-729-2586 or cgardner@carleton.edu with questions.

Class of 1983 Cycling Through Conspicuous Consumption

Join the 30th reunion class on Thursday afternoon for a tour of the Veblen Farmstead, located 15 miles southeast of campus. Tickets are $16 for adults and $12 for children under 13 and cover a two-hour tour of the buildings and garden (refreshments will be provided). Participants have the option of meeting at 12:30 p.m. to ride bicycles roundtrip, or catching a shuttle at 1:45 p.m. Registration is open to the Class of 1983 on March 1 and to All Classes on April 1. Register for this event as part of your overall Reunion registration. More information is available online here.

Alumni Art Exhibit

Are you an artist? Consider bringing a sample of your work to Reunion for the Alumni Art Exhibit in the Weitz Center for Creativity. If you are considering participating, please call the Office of Alumni Relations at 800-729-2586 before May 1. Please send information about the art medium, size of the work, and any special display requirements to the office before May 15.

Exhibitors are asked to bring their work to the Weitz Center on Thursday, June 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., or on Friday, June 21, before 5 p.m. Staff members will be on hand to help display the works, monitor the exhibit on Saturday, and help exhibitors take down their displays on Sunday morning. (All displays must be taken down by 12:00 p.m.) The Weitz Center is wheelchair accessible.

Book and CD Signing

Alumni, faculty, and staff authors and performers are invited to autograph their books and CDs on Saturday. The Carleton Bookstore will work with you and your publisher to acquire the books or CDs and make them available for sale during the event. For more information, please contact Tripp Ryder before May 16 at 800-799-4148 (tryder@carleton.edu), or write to the Carleton Bookstore, One North College Street, Northfield, MN 55057.

Cowling Arboretum Service Project

This family-friendly activity is a great way to enjoy the Arb during Reunion. The exact project is still to be determined, but we will be working near the Arboretum entrance so we will be easy to find if you come late. We will provide work gloves, tools, and drinking water and recommend that you wear long pants, socks, and closed toe shoes, and bring your own water bottle.

On Exhibit in the Library

27th Annual Off-Campus Photo Exhibit

An annual favorite of Carleton students, faculty and staff, the Off Campus Studies Photo Contest showcases 25 photographs from over 200 entries, awarding prizes in the person, place, story, and library categories.

KRLX open during Reunion

Did you have a radio show when you were a student? Want a chance to play your music once again? The KRLX radio station will be open during Reunion for any alumni who would like to participate. No experience is necessary; student experts will help you get acquainted with the current station set up and will help if needed during the show. Check the box on the registration form if you'd like to sign up.
