Summer Housing

ELIGIBILITY: Full-time students who have a paid position at Carleton averaging at least 20-hours per week during the summer are eligible to live in College housing for the summer from Sunday, June 12 to midnight on Friday, August 26. Students who are graduating are not eligible for summer housing. You and your Carleton summer employer must sign the application before it is submitted for summer housing.

SPECIAL HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS: If you have special housing accommodations, please inform the Office of Residential Life in writing by Monday, May, 9.

COST: Rent is $75 a week for room only. The billing weeks run from Sunday to Saturday. We cannot adjust the billings for students who are not in-residence during the entire summer (i.e., if you are planning to live in the house for three weeks, go on vacation for two weeks, and then return to the house for the remainder of the summer, you will be billed for the entire summer.)

APPLICATION DUE: Applications are due in the Office of Residential Life, Sevy G10, before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10. Applications received after May 10 will not receive a draw number and will be assigned a room only if space is available.

ROOMS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUMMER: Limited spaces in one of the campus halls are designated for summer housing. Please note that summer housing is not air-conditioned and residents may not install air-conditioners. Available housing will be posted online one week prior to the application deadline.

SUMMER HOUSING DRAW: Summer Housing Draw numbers will be posted on this website and outside of the Office of Residential Life on Friday, May 13. Rooms will be drawn by you or your proxy at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, May 16, in Sevy . You will be able to sign up for yourself and act as a proxy for one other student. You may draw a room with a person you want to live with during the summer or allow another summer resident to draw into the room you have selected. At the end of the draw we may need to consolidate rooms if there are rooms with vacancies. Co-Ed Housing is not permitted during Summer Housing.

SUMMER HOUSING DRAW NUMBERS will be posted on Friday, May 13.

COMMENCEMENT HOUSING: Students needing housing from June 7 through June 12 will need to reserve Commencement Week Housing. The charge for Commencement Week Housing is $100, which includes meals through Saturday lunch. The Commencement Week Housing Reservation form for summer residents is at the bottom of the Summer Housing Reservation form.

EARLY ARRIVAL HOUSING: Summer Housing residents who are registered to stay in Summer Housing until August 26 will receive an Early Arrival Housing Application the first week of July. If you choose to stay on campus after August 26, you will be moving into your Fall Term room assignment on August 25 or 26. The cost to stay on campus from August 26 until upper-class students' return in September is $25 a day. This cost includes room and meals.
