Closing Checklist for Spring Term
Your cooperation with the following items will insure a smooth departure from campus at the end of the term.
1. Clean your room. Many of the rooms on campus will be used to house commencement guests. Custodial Services will provide some cleaning supplies in each building. If vacuum cleaners are not working properly, contact your RA, House Manager or Custodial staff. Properly dispose of trash, sweep/vacuum, remove all tape, marks, tacks, etc. from walls. The room and the common area around your room must be cleaned including floor, closets, drawers, and furniture surfaces.
Trash should be disposed of in the large green garbage dumpsters located outside of Evans, Myers, Goodhue, Musser, Parish and Watson Halls.
2. Return your room to its original condition. Charges will be assessed if you fail to: clean your room, remove all trash and recycling from your room, remove all non-college owned items, assemble bed frames debunk bed at proper height, return College-owned furniture and area rugs (missing items are billed at replacement cost), etc. Bed pegs are to be put in the top dresser drawer.
3. Check closets and drawers to make certain that you have left nothing behind. Similarly, check to make certain you haven't accidentally packed anything belonging to the College.
4. Final Check out. When you’ve completed numbers 1 through 3, you are ready for your final check out!! You have two options:
a. REGULAR CHECK OUT--Arrange a meeting time with your RA/HM to do a final room check. At that time, the RA/HM will inspect your room and complete your RCR noting any damages. Return your key to your RA/HM in the key envelope provided.
b. EXPRESS CHECK OUT--Place your key in the envelope provided, sign the envelope, seal it and turn it in to your hall/house staff or put it in the drop box for your building. Staff will then do a final check of your room and complete your RCR at a later time. If damages are found, you will be billed and may not contest the charges.
5. Return your key to the Express Check Out box or personally hand it to your RA or House Manager. We must recore the door and cut new keys and bill $40 for any key not returned at check out.
6. Sign the "End of Year Check-Out" on your door before you leave. This form alerts the Custodial Services staff that you have finished cleaning and have left your room.
7. Rooms Must be Vacated by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, this year. Custodial staff begin cleaning for commencement guests immediately. A $50 late departure fee is assessed to anyone leaving the halls/houses later than 2 p.m. If you have been pre-approved to stay through Commencement, you will receive a separate notice with details for check out.
If you have questions regarding storage, contact your building custodian or the Custodial Services Office at x4133. Storage schedules are posted in the halls. Limited access is available after June 10. Please plan ahead.
