August Registration

< Previous: July Placements

Highlights

  • In August, you'll register online for your fall courses.
  • First-year students register August 18-29. We'll notify you by email of your specific registration time within those dates.
  • Your choices aren't final until you meet with your adviser on campus.

Online registration begins August 18-29

In August you'll register online for up to three academic courses (minus any you already locked in via the Pre-Registration in July). You can also add P.E. and/or a music lesson if you wish.

Carls register in order of seniority: seniors first, first-year students last. The registration window for the Class of 2012 is August 18-29, but your class will be further divided into sub-groups that register at different times within that range of dates. We'll notify you of your specific registration time before registration begins.

If you will not have access to a computer during your assigned registration period (for example, if your family will be on vacation), you may fax us your desired schedule on the Class Schedule Selections Worksheet and we will register for you. Please note that using this method does NOT give you any higher priority or advantage over your classmates. You will not be registered any earlier.

Start researching your options early

All available courses for 2008-2009 will be viewable on the Registrar's web site by mid-July (we'll email you to let you know when it's updated). You can get a head start on your registration decision by browsing the course listings and making notes about classes that appeal to you.

To assist you in choosing courses, we've created these registration aids and decision trees:

Record your choices on the Class Schedule Selections Worksheet

Once you've identified courses you'd like to register for, enter them on the Class Schedule Selections Worksheet. You'll want that handy when it's time to do your online registration.

During online registration, use the "Search for Sections (real time)" link on The Hub to get real time course registration information.

Remember, it's not set in stone!

During New Student Week in September, you'll meet with your faculty adviser, who will review your chosen course schedule with you. You'll have the opportunity to make changes after that meeting.
