Here is what we JUST talked about at the meeting:

  • Poetry Weekend is THIS Friday and Saturday! If you want to help table for a half-hour shift in Sayles from 12-2:30 on Friday, be at Sayles at 6 on Friday to set up the Great Space for the performance, clean-up afterwards, are a CAMPUS DRIVER, or can help clean-up the Cave after the Open Mic on Saturday, we'd welcome your help! Also, tell all your friends, put up posters, and spread the word!
  • Here's the schedule:
    • Friday, 6:30-8, Great Space - J. Ivy and Dana Gilmore will have a poetry reading
    • Saturday, 3-4, Boliou 104 - J. Ivy and Carleton prof Adriana Estill will hold a poetry workshop (Adriana's doing us a big last-minute favor with this, so be sure to show up!)
    • Saturday, 5:30, Freedom House - Dinner with J. Ivy (there will be some extra food if you didn't RSVP, first come, first serve
    • Saturday, 7-9, the Cave - Open Mic night with J. Ivy.
      • E-mail JP if you want to read a poem!
  • We talked about Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 17th) and Black History Month (February). The events we will definitely have are an MLK Day service, a Black History Month service, and We Speak (black history performance). Other suggestions: art exhibit in the libe, campus-wide spirit week leading up to We Speak, making Black History Month buttons, collaborating with CUBE, and many more! If you have any ideas for events or speakers, or if you want to be involved in planning, let us know!

See you all at Poetry Weekend!
