September 23rd: CLAPS w/ Night Moves, Food Pyramid
CLAPS, a minimal three-piece new wave band from the Cities, has really been making waves the past few years. With two members on synths, third member Patrick Donohue focuses on both singing and dance moves, creating a stage presence not unlike that of Morrissey or Ian Curtis of Joy Division. Spinning tracks of heartache along pulsing 80's beats, CLAPS has become one of the most talked about bands in the Twin Cities recently, and we're super excited to have them back at the Cave this year.
Joining CLAPS is another front-runner in the Twin Cities music scene, Night Moves. Focusing more on nostalgic 1970's rock, NM's sound can be best be associated with bands like MGMT or other throwback psychedelic rock. However, beneath their image is a richly textured, atmospheric approach that showcases some real talent. Definitely come early for these guys.
On the subject of atmospheric tunes, Food Pyramid can't go unmentioned. FP is perfect music to zone out to - psychedelic, rhythmic krautrock that will have you swaying back and forth to their hypnotic beats is the best way to describe their sound. I can't think of a better way to start your weekend than some deep chilling to FP's grooves.
With these three incredible bands, this Friday's show at the Cave really can't be missed. Like last Saturday, doors open at 8:30 and the music begins at 9. Don't miss it!
