Coalition of Hmong Students

Nyob zoo!! (Hello!) Coalition of Hmong Students is an organization dedicated to providing and enhancing the awareness of the Hmong culture at Carleton and the surrounding communities. CHS also exists as a group for those who would like to learn more about the Hmong people and culture. Everyone is encouraged to join in on the fun of organizing and celebrating events that CHS sponsors and hosts throughout the year.


Things to Look forward to for Fall Term! Events open to campus!

Friday, October 9th

Spring Roll Extravaganza- 6:30-7:30pm @ Asia House (Hunt Cottage) Come learn how to make and eat Spring Rolls! Mingle with old friends and make new ones!

Friday, October 23rd

Hu Plig Event (Calling the Spirit)- 6:00-7:30pm @ Asia House (Hunt Cottage) Every year for the coming new year, a shaman calls the spirits of members of a family to give blessings of good fortune and health. We would like to share this tradition with the Carleton community. Come learn and expose yourself to a little bit of Hmong culture and get good blessings for the coming year!

Saturday, October 31st

Hmong New Year- 1-3pm @ St. Olaf's Lion's Pause This is an annual co-hosted event with the Hmong Student Organization at St. Olaf. Transportation will be provided, e-mail Lor Vue (vuel) if interested and meet in front of Sayles. The program consists of entertaining acts to show pieces of Hmong culture. Hmong finger food provided. Fun and educational event!
