Board

President Yana Antonio '10

I'm a senior Sociology/ Anthropology (SOAN) major with a Spanish Certificate. I was born in Belize, Central America but I've lived most of my life in Chicago, Illinois. I am taking a year off after graduation to volunteer my time the American Cancer Society, possibly work as a teacher's assistant, and work in the Chicago Public Health Department. I plan on going to medical school In 2011 and becoming an ER surgeon. My interest is mostly in providing medical assistance for minorities. In the near future, I hope to help in creating new public health policies that will dissolve the disparities and open a rehabilitation center.

Currently, I am also taking part in the Black Student Alliance (BSA) as the vice-president, the editor of the SOAN department newsletter, and co-planner of the Campus Wellstone Camp Leadership Conference. As president of MSPC my responsibilities are to call meeting, find health related volunteer opportunities for members, and be a liaison between students and faculty. I love MSPC and I love my board!

Vice President Oumar Diallo '12

I was born in Guinea and grew up in Denver, CO. I have always been interested in becoming a diplomat but my recent diabetes diagnoses sparked my interest in medicine. This new interest led me to join MSPC in my freshmen year. I plan to combine my interest in international relations and medicine to possibly go to medical school or earn a Ph. D in Global/Public Health.

I enjoy playing team sports, spending time outdoors (rock climbing, snowboarding, backpacking, etc) and spending time with friends and family. One of the silliest things you will notice about me is my tendency to color coordinate my attire.

Hi!

I'm Lipi Gupta.

My favorite part of being in MSPC is getting to know our group members as well as Carleton’s amazingly energetic health-related student-support staff and volunteers!

My dream is to help manage an integrative, community empowerment-based NGO or medical center + work in improving healthcare as a part of rural development abroad + be a part of a sustained effort to bring people from the US and abroad together in cooperation.

…Right now I’m looking into learning more about non-profit management through internships as a pre-med student. Maybe later on after something like a Peace Corps experience, I’ll apply to an MD/Masters in Public Health/Healthcare Administration type of program.

I love singing (especially in the Arb!), getting lost in thought, searching for the inconspicuously-beautiful, and being with good people.

Secretary Angela Kim '12

I’m a sophomore from Honolulu, HI and most likely a Biology major. As MSPC secretary I take notes during our MSPC meetings and send out a brief summary email to all MSPC members.

Fundraising Coordinator Emmaline Ashley '12

I'm currently a sophomore at Carleton college and a prospective biology major with a concentration in neuroscience. I've always wanted to go into medicine and I'm the most interested in anything that has to do with the brain. I hope to attend medical school after leaving Carleton, but I've also considered taking a gap year to travel the world and do volunteer-work.

I'm from the beautiful state of Colorado and in my free-time I love swing-dancing and being outdoors, whether its a run in the Arb or a hike in the mountains when I'm home. My favorite thing about MSPC is that it gives an amazing opportunity to network with like-minded students and meet so many wonderful people!
