About the Founders

John S. Sears grew up on the streets of Ithaca, New York and overcame poverty and crime to excel in sports and in the classroom. In high school he was a four time letter winner in track and field and a three time state qualifier. Coupled with his 1590 SAT score, 236 PSAT, and National Merit Scholar status, he accepted admission to Carleton College in the fall of 2005. There, he continued his dominance in track and field (conference qualifier) and in the classroom (GPA: 3.64). However, these achievements still left him craving for something more. With a strong desire to fill his resume with leadership positions, he enlisted the help of his good friend to create the Carleton Sabermetrics Club. His hobbies include computer science, running, reading, baseball, reggae music, cinema, traveling, and electronics.

Long T. Bui grew up San Antonio, Texas, not on the streets, and aspires to become a dentist.
