Application Process:

Students who are currently in 10th and 11th grade are eligible to apply to this program (rising junior and senior over the summer of the program).  In order for us to process your registration form, we need you to complete the following tasks:

• Complete the APPLICATION.  We will place everyone in one of their top two choices or offer a refund if we are not able to place you in your top two. Deadline is April 25, 2012.
• Send a copy (official or unofficial) of your most recent transcript (please include Fall 2011 grades).
• Pay your deposit for the program. You can mail us a check (payable to Carleton College) with your registration materials or you can PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD.

**Due to student visa requirements, we are not able to accept international students unless they have a U.S. passport.

Costs:

The comprehensive fee of $3,350 includes:

• Tuition
• All books and class supplies
• Six Carleton credit hours (equivalent to three semester hours)
• Room and board (all meals)
• Activities and excursions

A $500 deposit is due with the application. The remaining balance of $2,850 is due on June 1.  If you are not accepted into the program, the $500 will be returned to you. For accepted students, $250 is non-refundable.  Please see the cancellation policy for further details.

Financial Assistance:

A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available to students applying to the Carleton Summer Science Institute.  Based on academic merit and college potential, scholarships will apply to overall tuition, room, and board expenses.  Learn more about the scholarship process.

Attendance Policy:

The Carleton Summer Science Institute is a residential program that requires full-time residence at the College, including weekends, for the duration of the program. Students are expected to remain on campus, with the exception of program-sponsored excursions. Only in cases of emergency, and with the program director's approval, may students be absent from the program. No exceptions will be made.

Cancellation Policy:

Students who cancel on or before May 8 will receive a refund of all fees paid except $250 of the nonrefundable deposit.

Cancellations received between May 9 and June 1 will be charged $500. Cancellations received between June 2 and June 22 will be charged $1,675.  Any cancellations received after June 22, or any withdrawal by a student during the program, will result in forfeiture of all fees paid.
