General Packing Suggestions
Each student will be provided with a linen packet containing the following necessities: sheets, pillow and pillowcase, and a blanket. Towels and soap are also included, but are rather small, so we HIGHLY recommend that you bring your own bath towel and a bar of soap. Your linens will be exchanged one time during the program. You may want to bring a study lamp, extra blanket, tennis racket, swimming suit, musical instrument, and/or other recreational equipment. You may also want to pack sunscreen and bug spray as the mosquitos can be unfriendly at times in the evening!
You should also bring closed-toe shoes for lab work as sandals are not permitted in the labs. For those of you in the Geoscience section, you will be doing a lot of outdoor activities, so it will be important for you to have comfortable shoes. We are planning a canoeing trip for the entire group, so you should pack accordingly for that trip.
Minnesota can be rather warm in July and August. Generally speaking, dress is casual summer wear (shorts and t-shirts are fine for the classroom). Also plan to bring a jacket for cooler nighttime temperatures and colder days. Please bring at least one dressier outfit for any special occasions.
**Please be sure to bring your photo identification card, as you will need this during some events.**
