A study found that 9% of fish have amounts of plastics, which can contain toxins hazardous to wildlife.  More astoundingly, The Great Pacific Garbage Patch has grown 100-fold in the last 40 years.

News about the launch of the SOPE's drying rack SRF project.

Earlier this year, a SOPE (Students Organized for the Protection of the Environment) proposal to purchase two drying racks for each floor in the dorms. The drying racks have been ordered and half of them should arrive soon and be ready for use in the next week.

This Sunday, April 22, will mark the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day. Earth Day was first established in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin. He had been troubled by the devastating oil spills in Santa Barbara the year before.

Carleton is a finalist for the national 2012 Climate Leadership Awards. The voting period goes until April 15th so everyone should vote for Carleton and spread the word.
