There are also several optional components you should consider:

Interviews

Our interviews are low-key conversations between you and a member of the Admissions team.  They are meant to be informative, helping you to get a better sense of how you might fit in at Carleton, and helping us to learn how your strengths and talents might be nurtured in our community.  We do not require an interview for admissions consideration.  We interview high school students from May 1 of junior year through January 15 of senior year, and transfer students through February 15.  We offer several interview options on- and off-campus.

Artists

We allow applicants to submit arts supplements in music, theater, dance, the visual arts, and film.  These samples are forwarded by our office to the appropriate professors on campus, who then provide review for the admissions committee.  However, these portfolios are not required for participation and/or majoring in the arts at Carleton, and all students are welcome to submit materials, regardless of their plans once at Carleton.

After you've applied to Carleton, you'll gain access to the applicant status page, where you'll share examples of your work.  You can upload your portfolio of work, all the way at the bottom of the page, under Portfolio

Please note the following guidelines, when applicable:

  • all arts: include contrasting examples of expression and technique
  • visual art: submit no more than 20 images
  • video and audio samples: no more than 3-5 minutes long

Athletes

If you are interested in playing a varsity sport at Carleton, we encourage you to contact the coach directly through the recruit questionnaire.

Financial Aid

If you anticipate needing financial aid, we encourage you to apply for financial aid.
