January 19, 2009

I had been hearing this term casually thrown around in conversations every now and then and realized it was time to finally do some snooping around to get to the root of this. Somewhere in the process I realized what I was experiencing and seeing around me this year was somewhat different than the above definition. For one, seniors tend to dress better (or at least I think so) since it is their last year and they want to finish in style! Lack of studying- not quite yet as most people are still writing their comps (senior thesis in their respective majors). Personally, the realization that it’s out last year here makes me want to live up every moment. I’ve been more spontaneous than before and willing to try new things. It makes me want to hold on and cherish each moment cause I know its not coming back in some form next year.

Yes I know it’s probably 5oF outside but I still joined a bunch of friends for Intramural Broomball. For those of you who are new to this(like me before earlier this evening)- its like ice hockey- but you don’t need skates, the sticks look like brooms and you play with a ball and not a puck. I wasn’t so sure about playing as it was cold and falling on ice is  not known to be a particularly pleasant experience. But then I got senioritis which made me think- when am I going to do this ever again?- and with my friends? What could I do- I gave in and showed up. And boy! Was it sooooo much fun. We won the game 3-2 which was the ice-ing on the cake. Believe it or not, I was actually hot and managed to stay vertical for the most.

Our next game is this Thursday at 8:00- so stay tuned.

    Hey Aparna,

Good luck for your next game! (: Hopefully, the non-vertical moments will be filled with much laughter!
